I\u2019ve used it a bit, and as far as I can tell, it\u2019s much the same. There are a few welcome changes, but the major new thing is SharePoint. The file above renders as just plain text without any change of colour for the \u201cSmart Mate\u201d title (it\u2019s using the standard Office 2010 Desktop setup) under Office 2007 Mobile, and I\u2019ve deliberately turned off the text reflowing that is set on by default.<\/p>\n<h5>Excel Mobile<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/image5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"Excel Mobile 2007\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Excel Mobile 2007\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/image_thumb5.png\" width=\"184\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"Excel Mobile 2010\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Excel Mobile 2010\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom4_thumb.png\" width=\"184\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The main difference between 2010 and 2007 for Excel is the enlarged area at the top of the screen for entering a cell, and editing the data in that cell. It\u2019s certainly a welcome change, but it\u2019s hardly radical.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"Excel Mobile Quit\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Excel Mobile Quit\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom7_thumb.png\" width=\"184\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"Excel Mobile About\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Excel Mobile About\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom6_thumb.png\" width=\"184\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The warning dialogues on closing have also been updated, which makes it more finger friendly, though this could well be the OS build (23506) rather than anything else.<\/p>\n<h5>PowerPoint Mobile<\/h5>\n<p>PowerPoint has perhaps the most changes of the three, with much more fluid animations, faster load times, and gesture support for changing slide.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"PowerPoint File Chooser\" border=\"0\" alt=\"PowerPoint File Chooser\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom8_thumb.png\" width=\"184\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"PowerPoint Orientation warning\" border=\"0\" alt=\"PowerPoint Orientation warning\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom9_thumb.png\" width=\"184\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When you load PowerPoint, you\u2019re greeted with a full file browser to find the presentation you want, rather than the crude and limited open file dialogue you get with Word and Excel. If you load a presentation in portrait, you also get told it\u2019ll display better in landscape, and you get offered landscape mode instantly. After that, it simply shows the presentation you chose with no fuss.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"PowerPoint Slide\" border=\"0\" alt=\"PowerPoint Slide\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom10_thumb.png\" width=\"244\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom12.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"PowerPoint Zoom\" border=\"0\" alt=\"PowerPoint Zoom\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom12_thumb.png\" width=\"244\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once the slideshow has loaded (which seemed much snappier) you can either swipe left-&gt;right to advance slides or animations (or right-&gt;left to go back) or tap on the slide to show the menu bars. This is a welcome change from the fiddly little arrows we used to have, and far more intuitive.<\/p>\n<p>One of the softkeys is an option to zoom in on a slide, which gives you an interface similar to that of Pictures and Videos with a box you can drag round the screen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom13.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"PowerPoint Slides\" border=\"0\" alt=\"PowerPoint Slides\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom13_thumb.png\" width=\"184\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom11.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"PowerPoint About\" border=\"0\" alt=\"PowerPoint About\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/CEZoom11_thumb.png\" width=\"184\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If sliding around the screen isn\u2019t your thing, there\u2019s always the ability to browse the slides in a list, and I guess this was in 2007, though I barely used it\u2026<\/p>\n<p>PowerPoint also supports a \u201cpresentation clicker\u201d which I shall investigate further.<\/p>\n<h5>SharePoint<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/image6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"SharePoint 2010\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SharePoint 2010\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/image_thumb6.png\" width=\"184\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/image7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"SharePoint About\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SharePoint About\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/image_thumb7.png\" width=\"184\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>SharePoint is the only really \u201cnew\u201d thing, but since I can\u2019t access my schools SharePoint server, there\u2019s not much I can do, until I pester the IT department.<\/p>\n<h5>And finally<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Office_Mobile_2010_20091118222420.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right: 0px\" title=\"Office_Mobile_2010_20091118222420\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Office_Mobile_2010_20091118222420\" align=\"left\" src=\"http:\/\/wmpoweruser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Office_Mobile_2010_20091118222420_thumb.png\" width=\"244\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a>In conclusion, if SharePoint matters to you a lot, by all means upgrade, but for most, I can\u2019t really see the advantage unless you particularly like the new icons, or have a device that can make use of TVOut for the PowerPoint features.<\/p>\n<p>The download is available from the US Marketplace,&#160; or use <a href=\"http:\/\/gettag.mobi\">Microsoft tag<\/a> (gettag.mobi). <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Office Mobile 2010 was fairly recently released as a beta on the Marketplace for Mobile.
