I can almost always find a home for my old gear. Tomorrow will be a real test though, I&#8217;m bringing in my Palm stuff to give away &#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_2hHaWhfpgV4\/S6bFUCz29VI\/AAAAAAABQ-c\/RtH6JEdrqwY\/s1600-h\/PalmGearMar2010.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"212\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_2hHaWhfpgV4\/S6bFUCz29VI\/AAAAAAABQ-c\/RtH6JEdrqwY\/s320\/PalmGearMar2010.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">The five PalmOS devices shown above are probably 1\/2 to 1\/3 of the total Emily and I bought between <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faughnan.com\/palm.html#History\">1998<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/tech.kateva.org\/2006\/03\/tungsten-e2-brain-transplant-report.html\">2006<\/a>. I underwent the exquisitely <a href=\"http:\/\/notes.kateva.org\/2008\/08\/my-brutal-palm-to-iphone-migration.html\">painful<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/tech.kateva.org\/2008\/08\/palm-to-iphone-summary.html\">Palm to iPhone transition in Aug 2008<\/a> (in some ways it&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/notes.kateva.org\/2009\/06\/apples-iphone-calendar-makes-me-miss-my.html\">still continuing<\/a>).<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">I don&#8217;t think anyone will want the devices, but the chargers and accessories might be of interest. I have zillions of styli.[1]<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">One SONY made device uses AA batteries. It&#8217;s the only one that would still work; I might keep it around for grandchild show and tell (I bet there&#8217;s still an AA equivalent in 30 years. If there&#8217;s civilization.) The others had LiOn batteries that are pretty dead by now.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">Ahh, Palm. They were great in their time, but they <a href=\"http:\/\/notes.kateva.org\/2008\/02\/palm-os-obit-245.html\">peaked in the 90s with the Graffiti One Vx<\/a>. Even after they lost their way, the company was sustained by some terrific developers like <a href=\"http:\/\/notes.kateva.org\/2009\/01\/what-iphone-needs-is-gorilla-havens.html\">Pimlico Software (DateBk)<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">I&#8217;m not tossing everything. I added the Vx manual and Pogue&#8217;s PalmPilot book to my shelf of computer book honor:<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_2hHaWhfpgV4\/S6bFUvVierI\/AAAAAAABQ-g\/WsvUijLm-xg\/s1600-h\/OldComputerBooks_Mar2010.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"212\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_2hHaWhfpgV4\/S6bFUvVierI\/AAAAAAABQ-g\/WsvUijLm-xg\/s320\/OldComputerBooks_Mar2010.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Even though Palm Inc&#8217;s WebOS seems to have no relationship to PalmClassic, I&#8217;d hoped it would provide some inspiring competition for Apple. Judging by their share price, however, that seems unlikely &#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile-photo\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_2hHaWhfpgV4\/S6a4bU1InqI\/AAAAAAABQ9U\/RfDxoCYvRSU\/s1600-h\/photo-789881.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451247178566114978\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_2hHaWhfpgV4\/S6a4bU1InqI\/AAAAAAABQ9U\/RfDxoCYvRSU\/s320\/photo-789881.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They fell of a cliff in the past week or so. I assume the price was being sustained by hope of a Nokia or Microsoft acquisition, but that news of Windows Mobile 7 made that unlikely.
