Charshanbe Soori is a prelude to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nowruz\">Nowrouz<\/a>, the Persian New Year which starts on March 21 and marks the arrival of spring.<\/p>\n<p>Iranians <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/hostednews\/afp\/article\/ALeqM5jgl4V1W-x-70sJWz9FTzP03uS0lA\">celebrated <\/a>the festival by lighting bonfires and leaping over the flames in an act that symbolises a hope for happiness in the new year.<\/p>\n<p>Several citizens filmed and reported this event where, in some cases, political slogans against the Iranian regime were chanted.
