KEVIN (obscenely young, ridiculously handsome) sits at his desk, poring through archival material.\u00a0 An AUSSIE STUDENT (even younger, not as handsome) enters.<\/p>\n

AUSSIE<\/strong>: Hey, sorry to interrupt.\u00a0 Just wanted to say congratulations.\u00a0 I heard the U.S. passed universal health care.<\/p>\n

KEVIN<\/strong>: Thanks, but it’s not actually universal.\u00a0 More than 20 million people still won’t have health insurance.<\/p>\n

AUSSIE<\/strong>: But I saw some old Republican guy on TV saying it was socialism and the government was taking over health care.<\/p>\n

KEVIN<\/strong>: It’s not single payer.\u00a0 The government is just going to help poor people buy private insurance.<\/p>\n

AUSSIE<\/strong>: What about that public option thing?<\/p>\n

KEVIN<\/strong>: Gone.<\/p>\n

AUSSIE<\/strong>: Not-for-profit insurance companies?<\/p>\n

KEVIN<\/strong>: Nope.<\/p>\n

AUSSIE<\/strong>: So how is the government taking over health care?<\/p>\n

KEVIN<\/strong>: Got me.<\/p>\n

AUSSIE<\/strong> (frowning): That doesn’t sound like socialism.<\/p>\n

KEVIN<\/strong>: Apparently, anything that helps people who aren’t rich is socialism.<\/p>\n

AUSSIE<\/strong>: You have a very strange political system.<\/p>\n

KEVIN<\/strong>: You have no idea.<\/p>\n

The Aussie exits, shaking his head.\u00a0 Kevin returns to his archival material.<\/p>\n
