While this is the first Tata Nano we’ve ever seen go up in flames, this is apparently the second one (third or fourth – we’re not sure). Either way, the story goes that insurance agent Satish Sawant took delivery of his Nano in Prabhadevi, Mumbai.<\/p>\n

Tata Motors arranged a company chauffeur to deliver the Nano to Sawant’s home since he doesn’t know how to drive (don’t ask us why he bought a car). On his way back home from the dealership, a biker on the Easter Express Highway overtook Sawant’s Nano and signaled that something was wrong with the car. After noticing flames coming out of the rear-end, Sawant and the driver immediately jumped out of the $2,500 car.<\/p>\n

According to Sawant:<\/p>\n

I have no idea what happened. A motorcycle rider overtook me and told me that the vehicle was on fire. The engine was behind me and I did not realize that the car was on fire.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The guys over at Indian Autos Blog <\/em>are speculating that something could be wrong with the cooling system. We guess the saying “you get what you pay for” holds true on this case.<\/p>\n
