Nanosolar, which keeps costs low by printing its thin-film copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) solar cells, offered no reason for Roscheisen&#8217;s departure.<\/p>\n<p>The last few weeks have seen some sudden changes in solar companies\u2019 executive suites, notably the departures of <a href=\"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/2010\/03\/whats-happening-at-solar-millennium\/\">Solar Millennium\u2019s Utz Claassen<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/2010\/03\/anton-milner-q-cells-ceo-resigns-cfo-cen-to-lead\/\">Q-Cells\u2019 Anton Milner<\/a>.<span id=\"more-7169\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Earth2Tech&#8217;s Katie Fehrenbacher <a href=\"http:\/\/earth2tech.com\/2010\/03\/22\/a-new-chief-takes-over-at-nanosolar\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+earth2tech+%28Earth2Tech%29\">notes <\/a>that it&#8217;s not uncommon for green energy company founders to make way for professional managers as the enterprise ramps up\u00a0its production efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Tate was the chief executive of Rambus, which designs high-speed chip interfaces, between 1990 and 2005, and worked in multiple executive roles at chipmaker AMD for ten years prior to that.<\/p>\n<p>Greentech Media <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greentechmedia.com\/articles\/read\/chip-industry-geoff-tate-becomes-nanosolar-ceo\/\">reports <\/a>that Tate was &#8220;once one of the most feared guys in Silicon Valley&#8221; because Rambus was a &#8220;pure intellectual-property company&#8221; that licensed its memory to other manufacturers and sued several companies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/GreenEnergyReporter\/~4\/c3oYQp04iuU\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The game of CEO musical chairs continued today as Nanosolar announced that Geoff Tate, formerly of AMD and Rambus, will take over the company from co-founder Martin Roscheisen.
