It seems like we’re going to keep seeing a never-ending horsepower, fuel-economy war between the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang – and that might not be a very bad thing for us enthusiasts and customers.<\/p>\n

Ford is very proud of its 2011 Ford Mustang V6<\/a>, which is powered by a 305-hp 3.7L V6, one more horsepower better than the base 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. The 2011 Mustang V6 also tops the Camaro in highway fuel-economy by 1 mpg for a total of 30 mpg when mated to a 6-speed automatic.<\/p>\n

So how will Chevrolet respond? Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette marketing manager John Fitzpatrick told Automobile Magazine<\/em> that the 2011 Mustang’s horsepower lead may be short-lived.<\/p>\n

Fitzpatrick also said that “you might see it sooner than that. “It’s really great to see Ford stepping up their game,” Fitzpatrick said, saying that he believes Ford used the Camaro as a benchmark.<\/p>\n

In the mean time, the 426-hp 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS still trumps the 412-hp 2011 Ford Mustang GT.<\/p>\n
