The GE move could put pressure on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.technologyreview.com\/business\/19095\/\" >the only major<\/a> cadmium-telluride solar-panel maker, Tempe, AZ-based\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstsolar.com\/en\/index.php\" >First Solar<\/a>, which could drive down prices for solar panels.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, GE seemed to be getting out of the solar industry as it sold off crystalline-silicon solar-panel factories it had acquired in 2004.
