Motor Trend reported yesterday that the Cadillac XTS large luxury sedan has been given the thumbs up for production<\/a> by GM executives and that the production model should arrive within two years.<\/p>\n

The folks at Inside Line<\/em> decided to do some digging and contacted Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell to confirm the report by Motor Trend<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Caldwell said:\u00a0”We intend to produce a car that’s in a class above the CTS period.\u00a0How much of it will be like the [XTS] concept, I can’t talk about. We’re obviously developing new products, including something above the CTS.<\/p>\n

When asked if the Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept as given the green light for production Caldwell said: “I don’t think anything has taken place there. “We’ve made no such announcement. [But] we don’t do things that we don’t actually consider doing. All of our concepts are rooted in something we could do.”<\/p>\n

For those of you that are probably a bit disappointed right now – don’t worry – because no matter what\u00a0Motor Trend <\/em>or Inside Line <\/em>report, the XTS is definitely slated for production (since Caddy needs a replacement for the DTS and STS), we just don’t know when it will hit the streets.<\/p>\n
