He had been serving time\u00a0at the prison since September 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Officials with the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said the death is being investigated\u00a0by the Kern County district attorney\u2019s office. The incident was also reported to the Office of the Inspector General\u2019s Bureau of Independent Review.<\/p>\n<p>State corrections officials did not specify the injuries suffered by Ramirez.
