{"id":470688,"date":"2010-03-25T09:30:41","date_gmt":"2010-03-25T13:30:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/washingtonindependent.com\/?p=80329"},"modified":"2010-03-25T09:30:41","modified_gmt":"2010-03-25T13:30:41","slug":"immigration-pacs-off-to-slow-start-for-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/470688","title":{"rendered":"Immigration PACs Off to Slow Start for 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s no official count available on the current number of active immigration PACs, but according to TWI research, there are at least eight immigration PACs &#8212; two of which are pro-immigration &#8212; raising and spending in the 2010 cycle.<\/p>\n<p>Together, these eight PACs raised only $1.46 million through Dec. 31, according to year-end reports filed in January with the Federal Election Commission. Anti-immigration PACs accounted for $1.35 million raised. While these numbers are hardly staggering, it&#8217;s plausible that more money will pour into these groups as the immigration debate heats up.<\/p>\n<p>Leading in terms of money raised in this group, according to our research, are the following PACs:<span id=\"more-80329\"><\/span> Minuteman PAC ($594,200), Team America PAC, ($323,904) led by Tom Tancredo and Bay Buchanan, and Minuteman Civil Defense Corps PAC ($189,141).<\/p>\n<p>The two pro-immigration PACs, which advocate an &#8220;earned pathway&#8221; toward citizenship for immigrants, lag far behind.
