{"id":474386,"date":"2010-03-26T09:31:02","date_gmt":"2010-03-26T13:31:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.utk.edu\/tntoday\/?p=19669"},"modified":"2010-03-26T09:31:02","modified_gmt":"2010-03-26T13:31:02","slug":"ready-for-the-world-cafe-offers-dishes-from-tropics-south-america","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/474386","title":{"rendered":"Ready for the World Cafe Offers Dishes from Tropics, South America"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KNOXVILLE \u2013 What do dishes from the tropics and South America have in common with UT basketball?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.utk.edu\/tntoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/rftwcafe-large1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1587\" title=\"rftwcafe-large1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.utk.edu\/tntoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/rftwcafe-large1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>All are on the menu March 29-April 1 at the Ready for the World Caf\u00e9 at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.<\/p>\n<p>The week&#8217;s menu includes chicken saut\u00e9 with guava sauce; charred mahi mahi with a sesame crust topped with lime-ginger beurre blanc; jerk-spiced beef tenderloin; caramelized onion and Gorgonzola mashed potatoes; cargamanto and green bean salad with chimichurri dressing; butternut squash soup; and broiled asparagus with lemon-tarragon dressing.<\/p>\n<p>Diners also can enter a drawing for a basketball autographed by men&#8217;s basketball coach Bruce Pearl.<\/p>\n<p>The Ready for the World Caf\u00e9 is open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each Monday through Thursday in the Hermitage Room on the third floor of the University Center.<\/p>\n<p>Diners pay $11 for the all-you-can-eat buffet or $9 for a plate of food to carry out.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty and staff can use ARAMARK&#8217;s new UT Reward Card to receive a 15 percent discount at the caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Students enrolled in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism (HRT) 445, the advanced food production and service management class, plan and operate the caf\u00e9. They take turns serving as the caf\u00e9 manager. ARAMARK, UT&#8217;s provider of dining services, prepares the food.<\/p>\n<p>The caf\u00e9 manager for March 29 to April 1 is Brittany Bivins, of Manchester, Tenn., a junior majoring in nutrition with a minor in hotel, restaurant and tourism management. She has worked as a server at Calhoun&#8217;s on the River and has volunteered with several child nutrition organizations.
