{"id":475375,"date":"2010-03-26T12:02:56","date_gmt":"2010-03-26T16:02:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/climateprogress.org\/?p=21912"},"modified":"2010-03-26T12:02:56","modified_gmt":"2010-03-26T16:02:56","slug":"memo-to-media-science-museums-homo-%e2%80%99sapiens%e2%80%99-enough-with-the-online-polls-especially-the-poorly-worded-ones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/475375","title":{"rendered":"Memo to media, science museums, homo \u2019sapiens\u2019:  Enough with the online polls! &#8211; Especially the poorly worded ones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First, of course, please vote in yet another <em>Economist<\/em> online poll with biased wording, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/debate\/overview\/168\">This house believes that innovation works best when government does least<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-21912\"><\/span>Two weeks ago it was another poorly worded <em>Economist<\/em> poll, \u201cThis house believes that creating green jobs is a sensible aspiration for governments&#8221; (see &#8220;<a title=\"Permanent Link to You can support Van Jones and  clean energy jobs\" rel=\"bookmark\" href=\"http:\/\/climateprogress.org\/2010\/03\/11\/you-can-support-van-jones-and-clean-energy-jobs\/\">You can support Van Jones and clean energy jobs<\/a>&#8220;).<\/p>\n<p>Then, of course, the <em>US News<\/em> pitted me vs. Big Oil  on climate science with the triply biased, \u201cDid Climategate Expose Global Warming Fears as Unfounded?\u201d I guess you can keep voting on that one forever (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usnews.com\/articles\/opinion\/2010\/03\/23\/did-climategate-expose-global-warming-fears-as-unfounded.html\">click here<\/a>)!<\/p>\n<p>Of course, you can vote for Climate Progress\u00a0 every day through April 2 at Treehugger (<a href=\"http:\/\/climateprogress.org\/2010\/03\/25\/vote-for-climate-progress-in-treehuggers-best-of-green-awards\/\">click here<\/a> &#8212; you know you want to).<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and let&#8217;s not forget that online voting made WattsUpWithThat the 2008 Weblog awards winner for &#8220;best science blog&#8221; (!) &#8212; see &#8220;<a title=\"Permanent Link to Weblog Awards duped by deniers \u2014  again!\" rel=\"bookmark\" href=\"http:\/\/climateprogress.org\/2009\/01\/02\/weblog-awards-duped-by-deniers-again\/\">Weblog Awards duped by anti-science disinformers \u2014 again!<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And, of course, Watts freeped the London Science Museum poll and claims he helped persuade them to consider dumbing down their Big-Oil-funded climate exhibit.\u00a0 A <a href=\"http:\/\/climateprogress.org\/2010\/03\/25\/london-science-museum-climate-exhibit-rapley-shell-skeptics\/#comment-268162\">commenter<\/a> noted the voting on the question was bifurcated between those who attended the exhibit gallery and those who voted on the web.\u00a0 The &#8220;question&#8221; was &#8220;I&#8217;ve seen the evidence.
