\n<\/a>Hyundai\u2019s hybrid sedan gets teased ahead of New York debut.<\/em><\/p>\n

Next week, Hyundai will pull the wraps off the long-awaited hybrid version of the new-for-2011 Sonata<\/a>. For now, we just have this teaser image; Hyundai will reveal the full car and specifications at the New York auto show<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been expecting a Sonata hybrid for a long time. Our most recent information<\/a> says the car will feature a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a 40-hp electric motor. The hybrid will use a revised version of the Sonata\u2019s six-speed automatic transmission and a pack of lithium-polymer batteries supplied by LG Electronics. Hyundai says lithium-polymer batteries are lighter, more powerful, cooler running, last longer, and are less expensive to build than the more common nickel-metal-hydride cells.<\/span><\/p>\n
