A French museum dedicated to the art of hunting<\/b><\/p>\n
Housed in the 17th century Hotel de Guenegaud in Le Marais, The Museum of Hunting and Nature is noted for its room of taxidermy trophies and its many paintings and tapestries depicting the art of hunting.
\nCurated with a nod to the wunderkammern of old, each room of the recently renovated museum now features a wooden cabinet dedicated to a different hunted animal. Concealed in the cabinet drawers are bronze casts of the animal’s footprints and turds, depictions of the animal in its natural habitat, and a poem dedicated to the animal. An extraordinary arched ceiling made out of the feathers and heads of five owls hangs over visitors’ heads in a room on the museum’s second floor. There’s even a room devoted to the mythical unicorn.
\nIn addition to a stunning collection of beautifully preserved firearms, there’s a room packed with taxidermy specimens from around the world. Be sure to ask the guard about the secret animatronic surprise.
\nOn the top floor, there is also a rotating collection of contemporary art inspired by the hunt.<\/p>\n
