{"id":477691,"date":"2010-03-26T22:35:46","date_gmt":"2010-03-27T02:35:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/techdirt.com\/articles\/20100326\/1637388740.shtml"},"modified":"2010-03-26T22:35:46","modified_gmt":"2010-03-27T02:35:46","slug":"eas-own-employees-annoyed-at-pointless-drm-solutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/477691","title":{"rendered":"EA&#8217;s Own Employees Annoyed At Pointless DRM Solutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We were among those who were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techdirt.com\/articles\/20100318\/1240028622.shtml\">disappointed<\/a> that EA &#8212; a company that has tried to suggest it had learned that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techdirt.com\/articles\/20091208\/1558157255.shtml\">DRM was bad<\/a> &#8212; decided to move forward with a required internet connection on <i>Command &#038; Conquer 4<\/i>, even after many people had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techdirt.com\/articles\/20090716\/0141125564.shtml\">complained<\/a> last summer, when such plans were leaked.<\/p>\n<p>However, now it appears that it&#8217;s even pissing off EA employees.  Slashdot points out that the editor of EA.com <a href=\"http:\/\/games.slashdot.org\/story\/10\/03\/26\/0653202\/EA-Editor-Criticizes-emCommand-amp-Conquer-4em-DRM?from=twitter\" >got really frustrated over the game kicking him out because his DSL was flakey<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><br \/>\n&#8220;Booted twice &#8212; and progress lost &#8212; on my single-player C&#038;C4 game because my DSL connection blinked. DRM fail. We need new solutions.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He later warned people to beware if their connection wasn&#8217;t solid:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><br \/>\n&#8220;Well. I&#8217;ve tried to be open-minded. But my &#8216;net connection is finicky &#8212; and the constant disruption of my C&#038;C4 SP game makes this unplayable.
