The wings were implemented back in 2007 as part of the \u201ccar of tomorrow\u201d, and were supposed to allow for closer racing as part of the modified aerodynamics package.  Despite their potential, the wings were universally reviled by drivers, crew chiefs and fans alike.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t expect the change to have a dramatic effect on the next two races, since neither Martinsville nor Phoenix are considered \u201chigh speed\u201d tracks.
