Wilbur was driving a black Chevrolet Corvette east on Indianapolis Avenue about 8:15 p.m. at a high rate of speed when he lost control and hit a light pole and then a tree on the sidewalk near Magnolia Street, Huntington Beach police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<br \/><\/br><br \/><\/br>The passenger in the car was transported to UCI Medical Center with minor injuries. <br \/><\/br><br \/><\/br>Alcohol is believed to have been a factor, police said. In July 2008, the Daily Pilot reported that Wilbur had been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
