Sony announced on its blog that it&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.us.playstation.com\/2010\/03\/28\/ps3-firmware-v3-21-update\/?utm_source=feedburner&#038;utm_medium=feed&#038;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PSBlog+%28PlayStation.Blog%29&#038;utm_content=Google+Reader\">taking the feature away<\/a> with a firmware update.<\/p>\n<p>Technically PS3 users can still go on using Linux, but it will be at a great cost. From the PlayStation blog:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Consumers and organizations that currently use the &#8220;Other OS&#8221; feature can choose not to upgrade their PS3 systems, although the following features will no longer be available;<\/p>\n<p>    * Ability to sign in to PlayStation Network and use network features that require signing in to PlayStation Network, such as online features of PS3 games and chat<\/p>\n<p>    * Playback of PS3 software titles or Blu-ray Disc videos that require PS3 system software version 3.21 or later<\/p>\n<p>    * Playback of copyright-protected videos that are stored on a media server (when DTCP-IP is enabled under Settings)<\/p>\n<p>    * Use of new features and improvements that are available on PS3 system software 3.21 or later<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s doubtful enough people use this bizarre little perk of the PS3 to create a stink about its loss.
