{"id":484230,"date":"2010-03-29T09:44:18","date_gmt":"2010-03-29T13:44:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dirt.asla.org\/?p=4196"},"modified":"2010-03-29T09:44:18","modified_gmt":"2010-03-29T13:44:18","slug":"landscape-architects-sweep-hbbx-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/484230","title":{"rendered":"Landscape Architects Sweep HB:BX Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/aslathedirt.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/hbbxprize.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/aslathedirt.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/enyaprize.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4231\" title=\"enyaprize\" src=\"http:\/\/aslathedirt.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/enyaprize.jpg?w=300&#038;h=299\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"299\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aiany.org\/committees\/emerging\/\" >Emerging New York Architects Committee (ENYA)<\/a> of the American Institute of Architects announced the winners of its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.enyacompetitions.org\/winners.html\" >HB:BX ideas competition<\/a>, which generated concepts for an arts center that &#8220;culturally reinforces the physical connection between the Manhattan and Bronx Highbridge communities of New York City.&#8221; According to\u00a0the ENYA, the competition was\u00a0developed in cooperation with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/artistsunite-ny.org\/\" >Artists Unite<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bronxmuseum.org\/\" >Bronx Museum of the Arts<\/a>, and it is meant to draw\u00a0attention to efforts to restore and reopen the bridge. Some $9,000 in prize money was given to the top three place winners, including\u00a0$1,000 to the winning student submission. There were more than 170 submissions from 43 countries.<\/p>\n<p>Winners include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>First\u00a0place<\/strong>: Keith VanDerSys, Marguerite Graham, Marisa Bernstein &amp; Young-Joon Choi of Philadelphia, PA, USA. Principal, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peg-ola.com\/\" >PEG office of landscape + architecture<\/a><\/p>\n<p>PEG describes their winning entry: &#8220;Ripple Effect is a network of social spaces organized to entwine the cultural, environmental, and historical contexts that make Highbridge unique. Our proposal is a circuit of displays, interlacing the programs of art, recreation and landscape in order to create unique or unexpected adjacencies among them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Bustler<\/em> offers a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bustler.net\/index.php\/article\/peg_wins_enya_prize\/\" >detailed look at PEG&#8217;s Ripple Effect idea.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>2nd place<\/strong>: Tetsuya Kawano, Julien Boulley &amp; Chol Pak of Paris, France.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Third place<\/strong>: Yekaterina Yushmanova of Albuquerque, NM, USA. \u00a0Student of Landscape Architecture, University of New Mexico<\/p>\n<p><strong>Student prize<\/strong>: Kristina Guist of Albuquerque, NM, USA.\u00a0Student of Landscape Architecture, University of New Mexico\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ENYA said\u00a0the competition would\u00a0encourage\u00a0emerging architects\u00a0to look into\u00a0how to reuse existing infrastructure.
