{"id":487181,"date":"2010-03-29T16:06:01","date_gmt":"2010-03-29T20:06:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/we-better-smash-the-estimates-of-190000-new-jobs-this-friday-2010-3"},"modified":"2010-03-29T16:06:01","modified_gmt":"2010-03-29T20:06:01","slug":"we-better-smash-the-estimates-of-190000-new-jobs-this-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/487181","title":{"rendered":"We Better Smash The Estimates Of 190,000 New Jobs This Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The great thing about jobs report week is that we can talk all week about how it&#8217;s the only thing that matter, and that everything is all just a big undercard while we wait for the main event.<\/p>\n<p>Economists expect a reading of 190,000 jobs gained when the BLS reports nonfarm payrolls this Friday.<\/p>\n<p>But although such a reading might constitute something resembling real job growth, it might not convince investors that it indicates real job creation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calculatedriskblog.com\/2010\/03\/employment-march-madness.html\">As Calculated Risk reminds<\/a>, the number is distorted by two factors: Census hiring (real, but temporary) and the punk February weather, which may have depressed hiring and pushed it forward.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, some analysts see us missing the 190K consensus.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s Wells Fargo which sees only 177K:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">For March, we are finally expecting to see a positive net non-farm <br \/>payroll print.&nbsp; The payroll report for February was encouraging in <br \/>this regard: it revealed only a modest 36,000 net job loss in a <br \/>month plagued by winter storms, suggesting the U.S. economy is on <br \/>the verge of positive employment growth.&nbsp;&nbsp; A strong monthly boost <br \/>from Census Bureau hiring should be the catalyst that finally <br \/>pushes the payroll change into positive territory.&nbsp; The <br \/>unemployment rate is expected to hold steady at 9.7 percent, <br \/>though re-entering job seekers could still push the unemployment <br \/>rate slightly higher in the months to come.&nbsp; Look for additional <br \/>gains in working hours and hourly earnings to confirm the firmer <br \/>labor market tone.&nbsp; Jobless claims remain stubbornly high, pointing <br \/>to a weak underlying trend in private employment growth, and <br \/>consumer confidence stumbled in light of labor market uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.businessinsider.com\/image\/4bb107e77f8b9a17389c0200\/chart.png\" border=\"0\" alt=\"chart\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of course&#8230; for investors addicted to cheap money, none of this may apply.
