And yet, the &#8220;evil&#8221; never really turns out to be that bad, but it&#8217;s sometimes amusing to go back and see what was said at the time.  <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/KarlBode\/statuses\/11144393191\" >Karl Bode<\/a> points us to this fun little commercial that network TV stations apparently put out in the early days of cable TV, warning how <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FcYL2PW_fjE\" >&#8220;pay TV is the monster in your living room.&#8221;<\/a>  And, it urges viewers to &#8220;let your lawmakers know&#8221; in order to &#8220;save free television&#8221;:<br \/>\n<center><br \/>\n<object width=\"480\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/FcYL2PW_fjE&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/FcYL2PW_fjE&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"480\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><br \/>\n<\/center><br \/>\nOf course, these days, we keep hearing about how the networks want more and more and more cash from the cable\/satellite providers just to keep that &#8220;free TV&#8221; available.
