Porsche is working on pursuing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation to allow low volume sports-car makers to get a partial exemption from the forthcoming U.S. emissions and economy standards.<\/p>\n

The Stuttgart automaker has submitted a few documents to the EPA and DOT in hopes to win an exemption on the forthcoming legislation that will require automakers to have a fleet-average fuel-economy of 35 mpg by 2016.<\/p>\n

The document says that the regulations “would perversely require Porsche to become the fuel efficiency leader in the United States.” It is recommending that company’s that produce niche sports cars should face easier targets.<\/p>\n

We’re guessing Ferrari and Lamborghini should also jump on board and support Porsche.<\/p>\n
