The long-buzzed about Baywatch Movie<\/em> is finally seeing the light of day.<\/p>\n

Producers of Paramount’s highly-anticipated big screen debut of Baywatch<\/em> have hired two new writers to pen a screenplay for the proposed comedy. Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka, who penned upcoming Jonah Hill comedy The Sitter, have joined the Baywatch<\/em> writing team, according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The movie — which insiders are comparing to the screen adaptations of Charlie’s Angels<\/em> and the slapstick Police Academy<\/em> comedies of the 1980s — will be centered around the female members of the lifeguard squad.<\/p>\n

Baywatch<\/em>, which starred David Hasselhoff, Yasmeen Bleeth, and Pamela Anderson, ran on TV from 1989 to 1999. The small screen hit later spawned the spinoff Baywatch Nights<\/em> and the 2003 reunion movie, Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Baywatch: The Movie<\/em> is expected to hit theaters next summer.<\/p>\n
