{"id":499212,"date":"2010-04-01T07:06:18","date_gmt":"2010-04-01T11:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oxfam.org.uk\/applications\/blogs\/pressoffice\/?p=11896"},"modified":"2010-04-01T07:06:18","modified_gmt":"2010-04-01T11:06:18","slug":"brighton-launches-its-climate-connection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/499212","title":{"rendered":"Brighton launches its climate connection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oxfam.org.uk\/generationwhy\/cgi\/process_comp\/photos\/2010\/04\/dsc_0091.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oxfam.org.uk\/generationwhy\/cgi\/process_comp\/photos\/2010\/04\/dsc_0056.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11903\" src=\"http:\/\/www.oxfam.org.uk\/generationwhy\/cgi\/process_comp\/photos\/2010\/04\/dsc_0056.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After two years of working with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brighton-hove.gov.uk\/\">Brighton &amp; Hove City Council <\/a>and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bpec.org\/\">Brighton Peace and Environment Centre <\/a>(BPEC), the London team launched Climate Connections\u00a0to\u00a0a reception of over 100 people on Sunday 28th March. The\u00a0project tells\u00a0the stories of incredible\u00a0people\u00a0from across the world and connects them with inspirational people and communities in Brighton.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We wanted to\u00a0grab the attention of the person on the street who may not care about climate change or really understand why they should be doing something about it.\u00a0 The first part of the two year project is an\u00a0outside photo exhibition (above), which will tour the city, to give\u00a0as many people as possible the\u00a0chance to see it.\u00a0 People can read about a\u00a0family from Char Atra\u00a0in\u00a0Bangladesh who have had to move five times due to flooding\u00a0alongside a family in Portslade, Brighton who are taking lots of steps to reduce their own energy consumption.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We also have a website &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.climateconnections.org.uk\">www.climateconnections.org.uk<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; for finding out more about each story, to discuss ideas,\u00a0take campaign actions, join groups, set up initiatives, infact\u00a0anything and everything to do with living a more sustainable life.\u00a0\u00a0Each story will be updated\u00a0over the two years and\u00a0we hope that the website will take on a\u00a0life of its own as people\u00a0make their own connections.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the wonderful Paolo Boldrini, our Climate Connections Coordinator, will be\u00a0going out into the community with BPEC volunteers and delivering workshops to talk to\u00a0people about the issues and to show them how to take action.\u00a0 He will also be rocking up to festivals and events throughout the year with a mini version of the exhibition to spread the word far and wide.<\/p>\n<p>We have high hopes indeed for this unique public engagement project and hope that over the next couple of years, we can\u00a0inspire thousands across this fabulous city by the sea.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After two years of working with Brighton &amp; Hove City Council and the Brighton Peace and Environment Centre (BPEC), the London team launched Climate Connections\u00a0to\u00a0a reception of over 100 people on Sunday 28th March.
