{"id":499971,"date":"2010-04-01T06:30:00","date_gmt":"2010-04-01T10:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9864176.post-5594933185990594917"},"modified":"2010-04-01T06:31:41","modified_gmt":"2010-04-01T10:31:41","slug":"renewable-energy-transmission-lines-planned-for-queensland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/499971","title":{"rendered":"Renewable energy transmission lines planned for Queensland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dynamic Business News has an article on a new transmission  line proposed for northern Queensland &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dynamicbusiness.com.au\/articles\/articles-news\/renewable-energy-transmission-lines-queensland-1283.html\">Renewable energy transmission lines planned for Queensland<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) claims it will cost $1 billion to construct transmission lines linking Mount Isa to Townsville, but will create 1,800 jobs in the region.<\/p>\n<p>BIS Shrapnel has prepared the report Developing a Resource Corridor jointly commissioned by North Queensland regional development group MITEZ, Townsville Enterprise, Queensland Resources Council and local governments across the region.<\/p>\n<p>The BIS Shrapnel report concludes that constructing the transmission line would enable North Queensland to become a renewable energy corridor for the state with significant potential.<\/p>\n<p>Queensland Resources Council chief executive Michael Roche was confident that the proposed transmission line is a viable investment that will not only provide for the state\u2019s renewable energy needs in the future, but will create a much needed boost to jobs in the corridor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe report\u2019s key finding is the jobs dividend to north Queensland of the region\u2019s renewable energy potential,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA transmission line from Townsville to Mount Isa would open opportunities for a host of renewable energy resources including wind, solar thermal, geothermal, bagasse and biofuels, along with coal seam gas and shale oil.\u201d Mr Roche Said.<\/p>\n<p>With the corridor ripe with opportunity to exploit renewable energy resources, it is seen as necessary to link this corridor to the rest of the network to allow the state to meet its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint by one third by 2020 as well as assist in the Federal Government\u2019s commitment to a 20 percent renewable energy target by the same year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"pub-2189376323632485\";\n\/* 728x90, created 5\/18\/08 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3866831776\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 728;\ngoogle_ad_height = 90;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"\nsrc=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><img width='1' height='1' src='https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/tracker\/9864176-5594933185990594917?l=peakenergy.blogspot.com' alt='' \/><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/1vnu4yuxrvQnRguK58nDaAHlBno\/0\/da\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/1vnu4yuxrvQnRguK58nDaAHlBno\/0\/di\" border=\"0\" ismap=\"true\"><\/img><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/1vnu4yuxrvQnRguK58nDaAHlBno\/1\/da\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/1vnu4yuxrvQnRguK58nDaAHlBno\/1\/di\" border=\"0\" ismap=\"true\"><\/img><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dynamic Business News has an article on a new transmission line proposed for northern Queensland &#8211; Renewable energy transmission lines planned for Queensland.
