However, this assumption has never been directly tested. In order to determine if &#8220;cheating&#8221; does, in fact, harm MRs, we recruited 97 married heterosexual couples currently receiving marital counseling therapy, and randomly assigned each couple to an experimental or control group. The 31 couples in the control group continued their traditional marital counseling therapy.
