These babies are nothing short of iconic and have reputation for being some tough SOB’s. Now, after a 15 year absence Chevy is re-introducing the Caprice in full police garb to police departments all around the country. Understand now that the Caprice is not a rebadged Pontiac G8 although it does utilize the same platform.

Power is to come from a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 that puts out and estimated 355 HP and 380 lb-ft of torque. These are some pretty good numbers considering the competition. For instance, the Dodge Charger police car puts out 340 HP and the new Ford Taurus Interceptor has 365 HP. Sure, the Caprice is a big car, but with this added grunt it should be nothing short of spectacular, especially when high speed pursuits come into play. It’s going to be interesting to see who comes out on top in the new police car wars. As mentioned, Dodge is already out there fighting crime with the Charger, Ford is about to let the Taurus loose and Chevy, well… let’s just say with these babies on the road criminals everywhere best find some very quick new getaway cars.

For years criminals, speeders and bad dudes everywhere were chased down by Chevrolet Caprice police cars.
