\nformer Los Angeles County assistant fire chief will be sentenced today after being convicted of beating a puppy to death outside his Riverside home last year. <\/p>\n

Glynn Johnson, 55, was found guilty <\/a>in Riverside County Superior
\nCourt of animal cruelty and using a deadly weapon, a 12-pound rock, to
\nkill Karley, a mixed-breed German shepherd.<\/p>\n

The case has drawn wide attention, especially from animal-rights
\ngroups. For weeks leading up to Johnson\u2019s arrest, protesters rallied in
\nfront of the district attorney’s office asking that he be
\nprosecuted.<\/p>\n

\nJohnson was accused of beating the dog<\/a> after a long feud with his
\nneighbors over various issues in 2008. Prosecutors said Johnson
\nput dog feces in his neighbors’ mailbox with a letter warning them to
\nkeep their dogs off his property.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The dog had to be euthanized. <\/p>\n
