It is, as we are taught, a story for all<br \/>\ntimes, and one that can inspire all peoples.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><i>Washington Post <\/i>columnist Michael Gerson has a<br \/>\npowerful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/04\/01\/AR2010040102803.html\">column<\/a><br \/>\ntoday about modern-day slavery in Sudan, making it personal rather than<br \/>\nabstract by putting names, faces, and heart-wrenching stories to paper. It is<br \/>\nan urgent wake-up call to the terrible, tragic reality of human rights<br \/>\nviolations in the wake of Sudan&#8217;s civil war. Too much to tell in one column,<br \/>\nGerson adds some additional thoughts <a href=\"http:\/\/voices.washingtonpost.com\/postpartisan\/2010\/04\/stories_of_slavery_in_sudan.html?sid=ST2010040103683\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The report is a tragic reminder that for too many people<br \/>\nyet today, slavery is not a metaphor for other types of &#8220;narrow places&#8221; in our<br \/>\nlives; it is a grim reality.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>J.J. Goldberg picks up another piece of the Passover<br \/>\nstory in his <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.forward.com\/jj-goldberg\/127055\/\">report<\/a><br \/>\nin <i>The Forward<\/i> on how Google founder Sergey Brin, who was raised in<br \/>\nMoscow, became the driving force behind Google&#8217;s decision to stop filtering<br \/>\nsearch results in China. Influenced by memories of his childhood in Soviet<br \/>\nRussia &#8211; its totalitarian regime and rampant anti-Semitism &#8211; Brin was, from the<br \/>\noutset, wary of doing business with China because of its &#8220;censorship<br \/>\nrequirements and totalitarian culture,&#8221; <i><a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748703447104575118092158730502.html?mod=WSJ_hp_editorsPicks\">The<br \/>\nWall Street Journal<span style=\"font-style: normal;\"> reports<\/span><\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Brin&#8217;s actions here remind me of another piece of the<br \/>\nPassover lesion, that we must act in every age as if we were, personally,<br \/>\ndelivered from Egypt.
