I am writing this post thinking of how it is the traditional year of the tiger in the Chinese New Year calander. Sadly, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.panda.org\/what_we_do\/endangered_species\/tigers\/about_tigers\/south_china_tiger\/\" >South China tiger<\/a> is extinct. While hunting was banned in 1979, that was at a time when less than a hundred <a href=\"http:\/\/www.panda.org\/what_we_do\/endangered_species\/tigers\/about_tigers\/south_china_tiger\/south_china_tiger_population\/\" >South China tigers<\/a> remained in the wild. <a href=\"https:\/\/secure2.convio.net\/wwf\/site\/SPageServer?pagename=drtv_tiger_jeff&amp;s_src=AWG1009SS131&amp;txtlnk1&amp;JServSessionIdr004=3rjowk3jq2.app28b\" >World Wildlife Fund<\/a> correspondents emailed today stating that <strong><em>&#8220;Today&#8217;s generations will never know the magnificence of these big cats<\/em>&#8221; <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/secure2.convio.net\/wwf\/site\/SPageServer?pagename=drtv_tiger_jeff&amp;s_src=AWG1009SS131&amp;txtlnk1&amp;JServSessionIdr004=3rjowk3jq2.app28b\" >World Wildlife Fund<\/a> is leading the action efforts globally to preserve tigers world wide. With as few as 3,200 tigers remain in the wild, the <a href=\"http:\/\/search.yahoo.com\/search?p=Amur+or+Siberian+Tiger&amp;ei=UTF-8&amp;fr=moz35\" >Amur or Siberian Tiger.<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;For more than a million years, this &#8220;King of the Jungle&#8221; reigned over a vast territory stretching from Turkey to Russia. Today, sadly, their habitat is disappearing&#8211;tigers occupy just seven percent of their historic range. Moreover, three sub-species of tigers&#8211;Bali, Javan and Caspian&#8211;have gone extinct in the past 70 years; a fourth one, the South China tiger.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>With less than four thousand of these magnificent creatures left in the wild world wide, we all have a chance to preserve one of the most amazing species on earth!
