Credit: Anne Cusack \/ Los Angeles Times\" width=\"604\"><\/img> <br \/><\/br><br \/><\/br>\n<\/p>\n<p>A Union Pacific maintenance worker who was killed in a collision with a <a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/lanow\/metrolink\/\">Metrolink<\/a> train has been identified as Roberto Ramirez, 56, of Visalia. <\/p>\n<p>Ramirez died of multiple traumatic injuries when the pickup truck he was riding in was <a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/lanow\/2010\/03\/railroad-worker-killed-metrolink-crash-el-monte.html\">struck by a Metrolink commuter train east of El Monte on March 20<\/a>, said Lt. Brian Elias of the Los Angeles County coroner&#8217;s office. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/local\/la-me-buena-metrolink-map-i,0,4277406.htmlstory\" style=\"float: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Click here to check out a Times interactive database looking at accidents along the Metrolink system through September 2009.\" border=\"0\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d8341c630a53ef01347f9eb6ba970c \" src=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/.a\/6a00d8341c630a53ef01347f9eb6ba970c-800wi\" style=\"margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px;\" title=\"Click here to check out a Times interactive database looking at accidents along the Metrolink system through September 2009.\"><\/img><\/a> The coroner&#8217;s office considered the death an accident. Metrolink officials had earlier said there was no evidence that the employee deliberately placed himself in the train&#8217;s path.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>The Metrolink tracks at the accident site run parallel to Union Pacific&#8217;s freight tracks.
