Atlanta commuters\u00a0are noticing electronic billboards in metro Atlanta posting anti-Obama messages.\u00a0\u00a0 The idea turns what is normally a staple of commercial advertising into a platform for political opinions – a bumper-sticker slogan\u00a0aimed at a wider audience.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The signs include: \u2018Stop Obama\u2019s Socialism.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIf You\u2019re Not Outraged, You\u2019re Not Paying Attention.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNow It\u2019s Personal! America\u2019s Coming for You Congress! Vote Liberals Out in 2010.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cStop the Lies.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The billboard sponsors\u00a0consists of about 12 local businessmen. They’ve\u00a0created a Web site: billboardsagainstobama.com, where you can find four\u00a0billboards messages\u00a0to donate to.<\/p>\n
Spokesperson Tommy Newberry says there has seen such an influx of interest, sponsors are creating 50 billboard designs for donators to pick from. He also says it won’t take long before the billboards start popping up around the nation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are now very well funded. We are getting about a donation a minute,\u201d Newberry said.<\/p>\n
Donations range from a few dollars to $500 dollars. Newberry also\u00a0has had about\u00a0a dozen requests for an entire billboard. An electronic billboards advertisement can cost up to $3,500 a month.<\/p>\n
Newberry says the group’s ultimate goal is to not only grab people’s\u00a0attention but\u00a0also educate and\u00a0motivate them.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of energy from people who want to participate and they don\u2019t know exactly what they want to do. We can speak for them, on their behalf,\u201d Newberry said.<\/p>\n
