{"id":516359,"date":"2010-04-05T14:23:55","date_gmt":"2010-04-05T18:23:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chicagopressrelease.com\/?p=27897"},"modified":"2010-04-05T14:23:55","modified_gmt":"2010-04-05T18:23:55","slug":"chicago-opera-theater-announces-casting-change-for-%e2%80%9cmoses-in-egypt%e2%80%9d","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/516359","title":{"rendered":"Chicago Opera Theater: Announces Casting Change for \u201cMoses in Egypt\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/div>\nContact<\/strong>: Colleen Flanigan                                                                    312.704.8420 ext. 225 cflanigan@chicagooperatheater.org<\/a><\/span><\/p>\nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:<\/u><\/p>\nCHICAGO OPERA THEATER<\/strong> Announces Casting Change for Moses in Egypt<\/em>:<\/strong><\/span> Siân Davies replaces Manuela Bisceglie in the role of Elcia.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nCHICAGO, IL <\/strong>(April 5, 2010)—Chicago Opera Theater<\/strong> (COT) announces that Siân Davies<\/strong> will be taking over the role of Elcia in Moses in Egypt<\/em>, COT’s opening production of their 2010 Spring Festival Season. <\/p>\nManuela Bisceglie<\/strong> was originally cast in the role over a year ago, but had to be replaced when her visa was denied early last month.<\/p>\n“We are, of course, disappointed and frustrated that a singer of Manuela’s extraordinary ability, who has a stunning international career, will not be making her American debut with Chicago Opera Theater,” said General Director Brian Dickie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n“However, we were truly lucky to find someone as talented as Siân to step into this mighty role so quickly,” Dickie continued. <\/p>\nMoses in Egypt<\/em><\/strong> (Mosè in Egitto<\/em>) opens April 17th at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park and runs for four performances through April 25th.  Tickets are available now at ChicagoOperaTheater.org<\/a> or 312.704.8414.<\/p>\n                                                                                                                                      <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\nSiân Davies <\/strong>(Elcia, Moses in Egypt<\/em>) Soprano. Rochester, Michigan. <\/em>Siân Davies is showing promise as an up and coming lyric soprano on both operatic and oratorio stages around the world. This past summer she returned to the Santa Fe Opera to cover the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni. <\/em>Other operatic roles include Contessa Almaviva in Le nozze de Figaro, <\/em>Donna Anna in Don Giovanni <\/em>and Madame Pompous in Too Many Sopranos<\/em>. Davies made her European debut as the soprano soloist for Mozart’s Requiem, K.626 <\/em>with the Roma Festival Orchestra. North American oratorio credits include Handel’s Messiah and Israel in Egypt, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and Mozart’s Mass in C Minor, K.427<\/em>. Davies has participated in young artists programs with Santa Fe Opera and Central City Opera. She is a student of Costanza Cuccaro with a Master of Music in Voice from Indiana University, and Bachelor of Music degrees in voice performance and music education from Michigan State University.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n###<\/p>\n
