{"id":516571,"date":"2010-04-05T18:07:06","date_gmt":"2010-04-05T22:07:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seattletimes.nwsource.com\/html\/northwestvoices\/2011531340_healthcarereform.html?syndication=rss"},"modified":"2010-04-05T18:07:06","modified_gmt":"2010-04-05T22:07:06","slug":"health-care-reform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/516571","title":{"rendered":"Health-care reform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Legislation unconstitutional, socialist ploy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After seeing the billions of dollars in fraud and waste entailed in Medicaid and Medicare, it is unfathomable how anyone can believe giving the federal government more control over health care will solve any problem.<\/p>\n<p>Government is unable to run anything efficiently, especially a federal government; socialist governments are even more inefficient and wasteful.<\/p>\n<p>State Attorney General Robert McKenna should be applauded for his objections to the health-care bill\u2019s unconstitutional edict that everyone is required to buy health insurance.<\/p>\n<p>He might prevail on this one point, but it does not address the main objection: The entire legislation is unconstitutional. It is an attempt by President Obama and others of his liking \u2014 both Republican and Democrat \u2014 to make this country socialist. We must reject this health-care \u201cfix\u201d in its entirety, not just one objectionable provision.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2014 Bud Shasteen, Seattle<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next time, I\u2019m voting Green<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I am not a Republican or a Democrat, I am an independent voter. I vote every election not for parties, but for issues.<\/p>\n<p>When the government starts to tell me I must buy something or pay a fine, I wonder: Is this still the United States?<\/p>\n<p>I have lived here for 51 years. I served six years in the military; I am a Korean War veteran and have a purple heart.<\/p>\n<p>To tell me if I don\u2019t have insurance, I\u2019ll be fined and put in jail \u2014 that is not American.<\/p>\n<p>Next election, I will vote the Green Party. It is a protest vote. Other people have different views than me and that is fine.
