{"id":516711,"date":"2010-04-05T17:49:42","date_gmt":"2010-04-05T21:49:42","guid":{"rendered":"tag:consumerist.com,2010:\/\/1.10004167"},"modified":"2010-04-05T17:50:22","modified_gmt":"2010-04-05T21:50:22","slug":"jetblue-flight-forced-to-return-to-newark-after-losing-engine-cover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/516711","title":{"rendered":"JetBlue Flight Forced To Return To Newark After Losing Engine Cover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/consumerist.com\/assets_c\/2010\/04\/jetbluegrab-thumb-313x240-38958.jpg\">         <\/p>\n<p>A JetBlue plane bound for Fort Lauderdale, FL, was forced to return to Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday after an engine cover dropped off the jet shortly following taking off. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We heard a bump,&#8221; one passenger on the plane told the NY Daily News. &#8220;It sounded like we were going over a bump&#8230; We all panicked because we thought the plane was going to come down.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The plane, which took off at 6:15 am, was only in the air for 11 minutes before it landed safely back in Newark with no one injured. <\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Jet Blue explained that &#8220;pilots received an indication of an engine cowling (similar to the hood of a car for the engine) open or separated from the aircraft.
