{"id":517460,"date":"2010-04-05T21:42:00","date_gmt":"2010-04-06T01:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/march-fed-minutes-2010-4"},"modified":"2010-04-05T21:42:00","modified_gmt":"2010-04-06T01:42:00","slug":"get-ready-tomorrow-may-bring-the-end-of-the-feds-famous-exceptionally-and-extended-language","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/517460","title":{"rendered":"Get Ready: Tomorrow May Bring The End Of The Fed&#8217;s Famous &#8220;Exceptionally And Extended&#8221; Language"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"float_right\" src=\"http:\/\/static.businessinsider.com\/image\/4bba91597f8b9a484d960600-331-248\/ben-bernanke.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Ben Bernanke\" width=\"331\" height=\"248\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fresh Fed minutes are coming out tomorrow, and for the first time in a while, Bernanke may not simply cut &amp; paste what he wrote last time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wwwca01.btig.com\/\">BTIG&#8217;s Mike O&#8217;Rourke warns you<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">Tomorrow the FOMC minutes from the March 16<sup>th<\/sup> meeting will be released.&nbsp; At the time of that meeting, we noted we expected now to be an appropriate time for the Fed to begin to lay the groundwork to change the &ldquo;exceptionally and extended&rdquo; language.&nbsp; In doing so, it will put the FOMC in a position to make a formal language change at this month&rsquo;s meeting on April 28<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp; In altering the language, the FOMC will still not be expected to tighten monetary policy until October or November at the earliest.&nbsp; As economic data improves, if the members want to leave themselves the room to move in 2010 if necessary, the language will need to change soon.&nbsp; A very first gradual shift may have already occurred.&nbsp; Last Thursday, New York Fed President and FOMC Vice Chair Bill Dudley invoked the &ldquo;exceptionally and extended&rdquo; language in reference to the March minutes, but more importantly, he referred to the recovery as sustainable.&nbsp; &ldquo;<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ny.frb.org\/newsevents\/speeches\/2010\/dud100401.html\" >We have been very aggressive in providing support to the economy, and it now appears that a sustainable recovery is underway<\/a><\/em>.&rdquo;&nbsp; <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Dudley is squarely in the dove camp, and is quick to rattle off the litany of headwinds to the recovery.<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp; Therefore, such a notable statement could signal this early transition is occurring.&nbsp; We will be looking to tomorrow&rsquo;s release for additional signs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">If this happens, there&#8217;s a good chance the dollar will go nuts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another reason to think Bernanke will get in the raising mood soon: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/commodities-soaring-inflation-2010-4\"><strong>All those industrial commodities going nuts &gt;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/march-fed-minutes-2010-4#comments\">Join the conversation about this story &#187;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/TheMoneyGame\/~4\/2epWGjiYbHU\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fresh Fed minutes are coming out tomorrow, and for the first time in a while, Bernanke may not simply cut &amp; paste what he wrote last time.
