Its successor, the still-rear-engined Vanagon, was sold here until the early 1990s.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-18501\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>A Historic Figure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Vanagon was succeeded by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/reviews\/car\/01q3\/volkswagen_eurovan_mv-road_test\">Eurovan<\/a>, internally called T4 and sold in the States off and on until 2003, which switched to a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. Not exactly blessed in the looks department, the boxy Eurovan never managed to assemble the cult-like following of its predecessors.
