Americans may not have heard of Husky Energy.\u00a0 But thanks to an eagle-eyed reader up north who snapped this picture, we all get to see their uber-greenwashing effort.<\/p>\n

Here’s how “Mother Nature” makes her fuel, at least on the Bizarro world<\/a> of Htrae.<\/p>\n

<\/span>First, you take some heavy oil or tar sands from Canada.\u00a0 If you’re a Canadian oil producer, you call tar sands “oil sands” (see Memo to all: They ain\u2019t \u201coil sands”)<\/a>.\u00a0 Everyone else can call it the \u201cbiggest global warming crime ever seen.\u201d<\/a> See also Canadian bishop challenges the \u201cmoral legitimacy\u201d of tar sands production<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Then you refine it into gasoline and add “up to 10% ethanol.”\u00a0 Of course, this is the not ethanol from low-carbon, sustainably grown cellulosic biomass:<\/p>\n

Our “Mother Nature’s Fuel” is made from renewable resources such as wheat and corn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Cough!\u00a0 [Bullshi!t]\u00a0 Cough!\u00a0 It’s made from the most environmentally-destructive form of oil known to humankind with a little environmentally-questionable food-based biofuel thrown in.<\/p>\n

Mother Nature needs to hire a good attorney.<\/p>\n
