{"id":522234,"date":"2010-04-09T18:20:02","date_gmt":"2010-04-09T22:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seattletimes.nwsource.com\/html\/northwestvoices\/2011570706_mckennajayonhealthcarereform.html?syndication=rss"},"modified":"2010-04-09T18:20:02","modified_gmt":"2010-04-09T22:20:02","slug":"mckenna-jay-on-health-care-reform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/522234","title":{"rendered":"McKenna, Jay on health-care reform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What if McKenna wins?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reading first Stewart Jay\u2019s op-ed \u201cNew health-reform law is definitely constitutional\u201d [Opinion, April 4] and then State AG Rob McKenna\u2019s adjoining justification for his lawsuit against the mandate part of the law [\u201cSections of new law violate the Constitution,\u201d Opinion, April 4] brought a disturbing scenario to mind.<\/p>\n<p>If Jay is right that Social Security is a federal insurance mandate and McKenna somehow wins his lawsuit, then there could be grounds to outlaw the Social Security Act as well as Medicare \u2014two things Republicans have been trying to get rid of since their enactments.<\/p>\n<p>Even though McKenna advocates transparency and claims to just be doing his independent duty to fight for our rights, I think he has a hidden agenda.
