Today marked the start of the Sudanese elections.\u00a0 Voting is scheduled to run from April 11-13, with results expected to be announced on the 18th.<\/p>\n

The BBC<\/a> and Reuters<\/a> have good run-downs of the complexities of these elections, including the logistical and political challenges<\/a> surrounding them and a helpful Q&A.<\/a><\/p>\n

To stay up-to-date on elections developments:<\/p>\n

1) sign up for Save Darfur\u2019s regular elections alerts at http:\/\/action.savedarfur.org\/campaign\/electionalerts<\/a><\/p>\n

2) follow developments on Twitter \u2013 through our Twitter list on the elections<\/a> or by following and using the hashtag #sudanelections <\/a>[I’d also add in here my personal Twitter list on the elections: http:\/\/twitter.com\/martha_jean\/sudan-elections<\/a>]<\/p>\n

3) watch www.sudanvotemonitor.com<\/a>, a project led by the Sudan Institute for Research and Policy (SIRP)<\/a> <\/a>, in collaboration with Sudanese Civil Society Organizations (CSO), and supported by eMoksha.org<\/a> and Ushahidi.com<\/a> <\/a> (technical partners)<\/p>\n

4) read the blogs & web publications: the Enough Project\u2019s Enough Said<\/a>, with updates from Maggie Fick in South Sudan; Sudan365<\/a> with news and events from around the world; the African Centre for Justice and Peace Studies<\/a>; The Sudan Tribune<\/a>; Change.org\u2019s Human Rights<\/a> blog.<\/p>\n
