It will serve as a<br \/>\nreplacement for one of the millions of trees burned in the Station fire<br \/>\nlast August.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"stories\">\u201cI think if [the forest is] all of ours to enjoy, it\u2019s all of ours to take care,\u201d Schiller said.<br \/><\/br><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"stories\">Schiller<br \/>\nand his wife, Karin, were among the three dozen volunteers who spent<br \/>\nSaturday working alongside representatives of the U.S. Forest Service as well as Tree People, a forest conservation group, planting young Coulter<br \/>\nand Ponderosa pines.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"stories\">The event, which took place at Chilao<br \/>\nCampground, located half a mile south of Newcomb\u2019s Ranch Restaurant on<br \/>\nAngeles Crest Highway, was part of a comprehensive, multiyear<br \/>\nreforestation project being spearheaded by the Forest Service, according to the La Ca<\/span><span class=\"stories\">\u00f1<\/span><span class=\"stories\">ada Valley Sun.<br \/><\/br><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"stories\">The<br \/>\nStation fire, which ignited just north of La Ca\u00f1ada on Aug. 26, burned 53 square miles of forest. In some places the heat was so intense that<br \/>\nit seared the soil, hampering future natural regeneration.
