But as Mike Lillis <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonindependent.com\/81604\/dozens-more-massey-mines-cited-as-unsafe\">reported<\/a>, other Massey mines have been cited for a slew of safety violations that could put miners&#8217; lives in danger. The Freedom Energy Mine #1 in Pike County, Ky., for example, has received 66 citations for safety violations <em>since the Upper Big Branch accident<\/em>, including 23 violations deemed \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.msha.gov\/mshainfo\/factsheets\/mshafct4.htm\" >significant and substantial<\/a>,\u201d meaning they are  \u201creasonably likely to result in a reasonably serious injury or illness  under the unique circumstance contributed to by the violations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Using data from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msha.gov\/\">Mine Safety and Health Administration<\/a>, TWI has compiled a running tally of safety violations racked up by the ten most cited Massey-owned mines.
