Due to demand in the United States, Mini USA has decided to bring a limited number of the John Cooper Works World Championship 50 to the stateside. Mini originally planned a limited production run of just 250 units for Europe only.<\/p>\n

The United States will now get 50 of the 250 units of the limited production special edition hatchback. Sales will start later this summer with prices expected to be around $40,300.<\/p>\n

The Mini John Cooper Works World Championship 50 is based on the Mini John Cooper works and is powered by a 1.6L 4-cylinder with Twin-Scroll turbocharger and petrol direct injection. That’s good for a total of 211-hp with a maximum torque of 207 lb-ft. 0 to 60 mph comes in 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 148 mph. Estimated fuel-economy comes in at 6.9 liters per 100 km (34 mpg in U.S. terms).<\/p>\n
