The alternative investment management firm said the fund\u2019s official marketing period will start in May and continue for six to eight months, or until its investment target is reached.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe manage our funds within a disciplined risk management framework that has predetermined limits on the percentage of privates that can be held in a fund,\u201d Salida\u2019s president and CEO, Courtenay Wolfe said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s an area we\u2019ve been planning on venturing into for a while, and we are pleased to announce that we have already secured a $100-million seed investment for the fund prior to its official launch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That anchor investment comes from Bill Gallacher, president and CEO of Western Canadian merchant banking firm Avenir Capital Corp. He is also chairman and founder of recently public Athabasca Oil Sands Corp.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy relationship with Salida goes back many years,\u201d Mr. Gallacher said. \u201cI\u2019m a huge supporter and friend of the firm and am optimistic about the future of this relationship.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Brad White, portfolio manager and co-founder of Salida, will be moving to Mr. Gallacher\u2019s asset management team as part of the transition. Mr. White currently manages the Salida Multi Strategy Fund and the Global Energy Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Salida founder and CIO, Danny Guy, will take over the Multi Strategy Fund, while Brian Trenholm will run the Global Energy Fund.
