Could Paula Abdul be headed back to the judges’ panel of American Idol<\/em>? In Touch Weekly<\/a><\/em> tattles seem to think so. While many A.I. fans would love to see the ’80s pop star join former frenemy Simon Cowell on the US adaptation of Britain’s The X Factor<\/em>, Idol bosses are reportedly wooing Paula in hopes that she’ll bring her slurred speech and emotional outbursts back to TV’s most watched talent show.<\/p>\n

Getting Paula back is even more important to FOX producers now that ABC’s Dancing with the Stars<\/em> has been consistently gaining on Idol<\/em> in the ratings arena. And even more viewers are expected to bid farewell to the series when Cowell retires his sharp-tongued critiques on next month’s ninth season finale.<\/p>\n

“They want Paula back,”<\/em> the insider told In Touch<\/em> this week. “They’re not sure if she’d be the fifth judge, but they are talking to her.
