{"id":531969,"date":"2010-04-17T12:46:10","date_gmt":"2010-04-17T16:46:10","guid":{"rendered":"tag:consumerist.com,2010:\/\/1.10004661"},"modified":"2010-04-17T12:47:58","modified_gmt":"2010-04-17T16:47:58","slug":"microsoft-takes-back-its-naughty-ad-for-the-kin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/531969","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft Takes Back Its Naughty Ad For The Kin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/consumerist.com\/assets_c\/2010\/04\/kinphonecollage-thumb-350x185-39403.jpg\">         <\/p>\n<p>Perhaps in an effort to show that the iPhone isn&#8217;t the only super sexy young hip fun phone out there, Microsoft had a bit of a misstep recently with a commercial for the Kin that seemed to promote sexting, the act of sending graphic content via camera phones (aka the ultimate fear of teenagers&#8217; parents everywhere).<\/p>\n<p>However after our eagle-eyed and infinitely more  good-looking older sibs at <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.consumerreports.org\/electronics\/2010\/04\/microsoft-kin-sexting-video-consumer-reports-controversy-pulled-advertisement-pernt.html\">ConsumerReports.com called Microsoft out<\/a> on their blog on the dubious practice of using sex to sell their phones, they responded quickly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Microsoft takes the issue of sexting very seriously and it was never our intent to promote it in any way,&#8221; said spokesman Patrick Neighorn.<\/p>\n<p>But Microsoft didn&#8217;t mean to suggest he was doing anything dirty that would inspire teens to do the same!
