The initial fire was reported at 1:20 p.m., but was soon elevated to a second and then a third alarm, he said. By 3:15 p.m. the fire had been extinguished, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.<\/p>\n
One firefighter was taken to a hospital in good condition for treatment of exhaustion, Langford said.<\/p>\n
Firefighters had been moving burning mattresses out of the building via a loading dock in an effort to extinguish them, Rosado said.<\/p>\n
The structure of the building was not damaged, although hundreds of stacked mattresses caught fire and were destroyed. The rest of the three-story building appeared to have been used for storage, Langford said.<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire was under investigation Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
