{"id":535304,"date":"2010-04-20T10:05:00","date_gmt":"2010-04-20T14:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.phonedog.com\/2010\/04\/20\/in-continuing-iphone-saga-apple-requests-prototype-unit-back\/"},"modified":"2010-04-20T10:05:00","modified_gmt":"2010-04-20T14:05:00","slug":"in-continuing-iphone-saga-apple-requests-prototype-unit-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/535304","title":{"rendered":"In continuing iPhone saga, Apple requests prototype unit back"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/r.phonedog.com\/shared\/images\/2010\/4\/100219-500x_applelegaltogizmodo-1.jpg\" alt=\"Prototype letter\" width=\"423\" height=\"199\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Things come and go very quickly here on the blogosphere, so when <em>Gizmodo<\/em> got a hold of what appears to be the next iteration of the iPhone, it was only a matter of time before a cease and desist letter, or a request to return what wasn&#8217;t rightfully theirs, appeared.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, as I&#8217;m sure just about everyone knows, <em>Gizmodo<\/em> revealed that they acquired what could only be described as a prototype of the next generation iPhone.&nbsp; They completely dissected the device to reveal details that Apple fans everywhere were surely dying to know.&nbsp; In the subsequent hours, they also began to reveal the story of how the device was lost in the first place, the individual (an Apple employee) who left Apple&#8217;s precious cargo in a California bar, and that it was weeks later before they got their hands on the device.<\/p>\n<p>The story was interesting, and rather dramatic.&nbsp; Today, it has come to light that the Editor of <em>Gizmodo<\/em>, Brian Lam, has received a formal letter from Apple&#8217;s Senior VP &amp; General Counsel, Bruce Sewell, requesting the prototype back:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Dear Mr. Lam,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>It has come to our attention that Gizmodo is currently in possession of a device that belongs to Apple.&nbsp; This letter constitutes a formal request that you return the device to Apple.&nbsp; Please let me know where to pick up the unit.<br \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Sincerely,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Bruce Sewell<br \/>Senior Vice President &amp; General Counsel<br \/>Apple, Inc.<\/p>\n<p><\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to Lam, the letter came after a phone call requesting the return of the device.&nbsp; Lam claims that he told Apple all they needed to do to get the phone back was to claim it on the record.&nbsp; The letter above appears to be that very claim, and the final piece to the puzzle, according to Lam, that proves the device they had was the real deal.<\/p>\n<p>Via <a href=\"http:\/\/gizmodo.com\/5520479\/a-letter-apple-wants-its-secret-iphone-back\" >Gizmodo<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/nHlPH1Kq2mPhJdOVucqqSns5gKE\/0\/da\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/nHlPH1Kq2mPhJdOVucqqSns5gKE\/0\/di\" border=\"0\" ismap=\"true\"><\/img><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/nHlPH1Kq2mPhJdOVucqqSns5gKE\/1\/da\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/nHlPH1Kq2mPhJdOVucqqSns5gKE\/1\/di\" border=\"0\" ismap=\"true\"><\/img><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/phonedog_cellphoneblog\/~4\/26GgqVzmsxw\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Things come and go very quickly here on the blogosphere, so when Gizmodo got a hold of what appears to be the next iteration of the iPhone, it was only a matter of time before a cease and desist letter, or a request to return what wasn&#8217;t rightfully theirs, appeared.
