The video for the talk and Q&#38;A session is online now. When <a href=\"http:\/\/bobulate.com\/\">Liz Danzico<\/a> invited me to speak at the <span class=\"caps\">SVA<\/span>, I thought it would fit the university setting to share some theory behind our design process at 37signals.<\/p>\n<p>One book that heavily influenced my approach to design is Christopher Alexander&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Notes-Synthesis-Form-Harvard-Paperbacks\/dp\/0674627512\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&#38;s=books&#38;qid=1271884263&#38;sr=8-1\"><i>Notes on the Synthesis of Form<\/i><\/a>. Many designers cite the book as an influence, but few really explain what it&#8217;s about or teach how to apply the ideas in everyday work.
